[IC-3]Walking through the Peaceful Path in Shuzenji
Description
Overview
Walking from Shuzenji to Okunoin is a special 10-kilometer journey full of stories and natural beauty. Shuzenji, a temple that started in the 807, owes its origins to a dedicated monk named KoboDaishi(Kukai). In his younger days, this monk chose Oku-no-in as his training ground, a place where he bravely faced demons and ghosts each night. Using powerful chants, he succeeded in trapping these entities inside a cave, bringing peace and safety to the nearby lands. Today, as travelers take this path, they are greeted by stone markers. Each marker bears a short, beautiful poem. These poems, known a tanka, share tales of the local people, their lives, dreams, and the timeless beauty of surrounding countryside. Each step taken offers a blend of history, culture, and scenic wonder, making the entire walk a memorable and enriching experience.
