Atami has a long history of being a retreat destination and has attracted many VIPs in Japan. There are many small local food shops with a long history, providing quality ingredients and food to traditional ryokans, as well as for local residents of Atami.

This walking tour is to visit three local food shops offering indispensable ingredients to Japanese cuisine, which include green tea, wasabi zuke(pickles), katsuobushi (dried skipjack tuna used for Japanese dashi stock) and tofu. Let’s learn about history, products (including samples!) and more, directly from the shop owners (or staffs) while an English-speaking guide accompanies the guests for smooth communication.

To ensure the quality interaction at the each shop, the number of the participants is limited to six.

Tour on a different day/time or a private tour may be arranged, if requested at least by 4 weeks in advance of the tour date.

Itinerary

8:45	Meet at Sakurabashi, in Atami (Refer to the map below). Our guide to start the introduction/explanation.
9:15	(Walk 5-10 min) Visit to the first shop.
10:10	(Walk 5-10 min) Visit to the second shop.
11:00	(Walk 5-10 min) Visit to the third shop.
11:45	End of the tour, and dismissed at the third shop.

Booking can be made until 8 pm, one day before the tour date, unless the tour is cancelled or already full. After the end of the tour, our guide is happy to show the way back to the starting point or any nearby sightseeing places.
