A tatami is a type of mat used as a flooring material in traditional Japanese-style rooms.
Tatami has over 1,300 years of history and it is particular to Japan.
You may discover authentic Japanese culture through observing the art of tatami making.
Shizuoka Tatami workshop is included “miniature tatami coaster making” for kids.
“Tatami photo frame making” for adults.
Tatami workshop is conducted by Tomoyuki Kameyama.
He is a first-class tatami craftsman (national license) and his career is over 25 years.
The tatami in Shizuoka City’s National Treasure – Kunozan-Toshogu shrine is his work.
The workshop and lecture is a visiting program.
It will be held nearby your accommodation.
