Address: Mishima-eki, 三島停車場線, 芝本町, Shizuoka Prefecture, Chubu Region Mishima 411-0036
Description
Overview
A trail that takes you through the historical markings of the quarry for Edo Castle, built around1610. Mt.Nakou is a low mountain at 353 meters above sea level, but it boasts a long history of quarrying the stones used to build Edo Castle 300 years ago. This is a walkable site from JR Usami Station, where you can see the local shopping district and do some shopping on the way. Standing at the stone yard, you can see that the newly quarried boulders are placed haphazardly, some of them with engravings, and it seems as if work was being done here only yesterday.
