Kakegawa City

Within easy walking distance of the station is one of Japan’s most unique castles and the castle grounds which include a tea ceremony house, an original Samurai Lord’s manor, a samurai armour shop and stain glass museum, a bird park full of exotic birds from around the world that you can feed and many great little restaurants and shops.

Spend a day wandering around the small castle town, enjoying some of the best green tea, and friendly locals.

Fukuroi City

Within half and hour of Kakegawa there are many Zen temples in Fukuroi, which is also the home of Ecopa Stadium

Makinohara City

Take a bike ride through acres of green tea plantations.

Omaezaki City

Get some beach time and try some of the freshest seafood around at one of the local inns

A little further afield is the small mountain village Kawane and Sumatakyo Hot spring area which are well worth the journey.
