After that, it’s time for lunch at the food court on the second floor. You have a lots of options to choose from, with four different restaurants serving up Shizuoka’s local delicacies and other popuplar dishes. All of the restaurants are very popular, so there is always a line of customers waiting. It was hard to decide on which one to eat, so I took the chance and tried two different set meals!

I ended up ordering the Hamamatsu Gyoza from “Ganso Hamamatsu Gyoza Ishimatsu”, a local specialty of Shizuoka, and pasta from the popular pasta restaurant, “Pasta-ya 1-chome”.

Let’s start with the gyoza. It is stuffed with cabbage and has a gentle flavor, making it very easy to eat.

Next, I had the “Kama-age shirasu” (boiled whitebait) from Suruga Bay and a Japanese-style Sea urchin pasta. In addition to the chewiness of the fresh pasta, “Pasta-ya 1-chome” is also known for its iced milk tea! The trick to enjoying all the way to the last sip is to not mix it, a “Pasta-ya 1-chom-esque”.

Other restaurants include “Menya Tsubame”, a ramen restaurant that has made a name for itself throughout Shizuoka, and “Tokaiken Fujimi Soba”, a famous Shizuoka train-station soba noodle restaurant that has been around since the Meiji era.

2nd floor Shopping

Shizuoka Marche

The “Shizuoka Marche” offers a wide variety of local famous products from Shizuoka.

We recommend the authentic sweets made by a tea shop in Shizuoka, the tea capital of Japan. As a tea shop, they are extremely particular about the ingredients and their products taste just as good as those from a sweets store. Plus, their stylish packaging makes them a great treat for yourself.

Enjoy the beautiful contrast between Mt. Fuji and the airplanes at the “Seki-u-nin Observation Deck”

The observation deck is located 450 meters to the left (east side) after exiting the terminal building. It was said to have been named “Sekiunin Observation Deck” after the nearby temple. From the end of the runway, which stretches out over a large area, you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of Mt. Fuji, the Southern Alps and Suruga Bay.
